Hey guys, I figured since we have a bunch of tech guys we could start a tech forum. I personally get ask all sorts of tech questions, about hardware, building gaming computers, servers, etc...
So if you have questions post them and see if people can help.

When I meet new people I tell them I'm an accountant so they don't ask me questions about their email or what kind of computer they should get their grandma.
If word does spread what I do for a living I tell them to call Dell :P _________________ Wave goodbye to your secret crap, dumbass! |

People are so retarded. Twice last week I had some fellow members of my church ask me to help them with their HDTV and Game Consoles, because they somehow think that being a computer guru is related to TV's and game consoles??!!
Both times I go "I'm a computer guy not a TV guy". It's just lame because they know I am computer guy, because I worked on their computers. _________________ - Kalion The Great

They probably figured you technology smart in general... But, they didn't realize your Kalion... Not hard to setup consoles, im sure a HDTV isn't hard either if you buy the right cords, etc.. _________________

Tech smarts carries over to everything:
TVs, Consoles, GPS, Phones (Voip and Otherwise)
It's best just to act ignorant until you have no choice. _________________ Wave goodbye to your secret crap, dumbass! |

See now I disagree (to some degree). The world is full of high tech electronics and gadgets. It is impossible to know all of the different gadgets and systems out there. So to assume that someone who is 1337 with computers, is also going to be 1337 with some other totaly different technology (like plasma TV's for example) is retarded.
That being said, I could have helped them figure out what they were trying to do, but I just didn't want to. Why should I spend my time figuring something out for someone, if I am not getting paid for it? Yes, I might be able to figure it out with ease, and in relatively short time compared to what it would take them, but still. It's their problem to figure out, not mine.

Kalion always messages me with technical questions. He also is a media center newbie. Lastly, I told him to buy 1080P and he didn't listen, and to this day regrets his newbness... _________________ -goatlord

That was the point of my comment. In the eyes of average joe if you know computers you know also audio, voip, TVs, etc. _________________ Wave goodbye to your secret crap, dumbass! |

I can usually figure stuff out if I tinker around enough with it... such as TV's, stupid pdas and phones....etc. My job has forced me to learn new stuff on the fly almost daily. _________________ - Servo-J |
